1) Why are you running for office, and what is the most important issue facing your district?

I’m running to give our neighbors honest representation and a strong voice in Dover. Government should work for the people, listen to their concerns, lower everyday costs, and preserve our way of life.

2) How should Delaware ensure property reassessments are fair and prevent sharp tax increases for homeowners?

Property reassessments should be fair, accurate and transparent. Assessments should reflect a realistic and defensible market value based on accurate information and comparable properties. Homeowners deserve a clear explanation of how their property was valued and an easy process to appeal inaccurate assessments. I would also support protections against sudden tax increases, especially for seniors and residents on fixed incomes. Reassessment should never become a way to place an unreasonable new tax burden on homeowners.

3) What changes, if any, would you make to Delaware's education funding system, and how would you improve student outcomes?

I would like to see more of our education funding reach the classroom, where it can directly benefit students and teachers. We need to review how education dollars are being spent and make sure funding is focused on improving reading, math and other core skills. We should target resources toward students who are falling behind while holding our education system accountable for student outcomes. Our teachers should have the tools and support they need to teach, and parents deserve transparency about how their schools are performing.

4) Delaware continues to experience significant growth. How should state and local governments balance development with concerns about traffic, infrastructure, farmland and open space?

Growth needs to be responsible and planned. Infrastructure, roads, schools and emergency services must be able to support new development before communities become overwhelmed. Developers should pay their fair share of infrastructure costs created by new growth rather than placing that burden on existing taxpayers. We must also give local communities a meaningful voice in development decisions and continue protecting Delaware’s valuable farmland and open space. We can welcome responsible growth while preserving the character and quality of life of our communities.

5) What is one specific action you would support to make Delaware government more transparent and accountable?

I would support requiring adequate public review before major legislation receives a final vote. Delawareans deserve time to read proposed legislation, provide input and know what their elected officials are voting on before major decisions are made.

6) What transportation or infrastructure project should be the state's top priority, and how should it be funded?

Our priority should be improving infrastructure in areas experiencing rapid growth. Delaware should aggressively pursue available federal infrastructure grants to maximize the return on federal tax dollars Delawareans already pay. Developers should also pay their fair share of infrastructure improvements created by new development.

7) What should Delaware do to address rising housing and cost-of-living challenges?

Delaware needs to focus on lowering the everyday costs families are facing. We should encourage rehabilitation of vacant and existing homes, remove unnecessary barriers to homeownership and support responsible development while preserving our communities. We also need to address rising energy costs and avoid policies that unnecessarily increase the cost of housing, utilities and other necessities.
